Emit Hurdelbrink suggested that I shoot you an e-mail to ask a question:  Our Mesa County ARES group holds an ARES/EmComm net every Wednesday evening at 1900 on our local repeater system.  I thought it might be useful to conduct an occasional net on DMR to encourage our team to get more familiar with both DMR and the RMHAM system.  Would it be possible to hold our net on RM Central the second Tuesday, starting on August 14^th?  I suspect it will be a short net – probably 10 minutes or less – to start.  Of course, anyone listening would be welcome to check in.  If that night doesn’t work, let me know if there’s a better time.

EOSS has multiple flights in 2025 that we would like to use the RMHAM DMR “Wide” network for.

We will also be using both of our deployable repeaters for all of these flights and as always should there be any emergency traffic we will suspend our use of the system.

ARES South Net

This monthly net is focused on increasing the ability of ARES members to use DMR in emergency situations. It consists of both practical skills building as well as knowledge building segments each month.

DMR is fast becoming a core component of Emergency Communication. As such it is necessary for ARES groups to build the knowledge and practice the skills needed to communicate effectively using DMR and linked DMR repeaters. 

It is hosted by CO-ARES Region 5 District 2 which serves Pueblo and Huerfano counties, but is open to all ARES groups that can use the RMHam South talkgroup, as well as any amateur radio operator interested in learning more about ARES and emergency communications.

Hi, John –

Emit Hurdelbrink suggested that I shoot you an e-mail to ask a question:  Our Mesa County ARES group holds an ARES/EmComm net every Wednesday evening at 1900 on our local repeater system.  I thought it might be useful to conduct an occasional net on DMR to encourage our team to get more familiar with both DMR and the RMHAM system.  Would it be possible to hold our net on RM Central the second Tuesday, starting on August 14^th?  I suspect it will be a short net – probably 10 minutes or less – to start.  Of course, anyone listening would be welcome to check in.  If that night doesn’t work, let me know if there’s a better time.

John,
His and I hope you are doing well! I wanted to ask a quick question. Would it be possible for R1D6 ARES to use the Central TG for a net once a month?  For 2023 we are moving to the Fourth Tuesday evenings at 1930 hrs and last about 15-20 minutes. I want to have our members practice more using DMR and also using the Brandminster link to Central. Let me know if you think it is possible to do our nets on one Tuesday evening a month. Thanks!
