On a cold January Saturday morning, members of Rocky Mountain Ham and others assembled to learn about 3D printing from Jim, KA6ETE. The morning started off with Willem, AC0KQ, welcoming everyone attending in person and remotely and reminding them that RMHAM is a 501(3)(C) organization and donations are always. Jim began by discussing the software he uses for developing the files that are used print 3D items. He reviewed the steps and the various aspects of using the software. There was a a real time demo in which he went through how to use the software and steps required in designing a piece to be printed. The types of materials used in the printing process were discussed and which materials were best for which type of projects. At the end of the class, Jim started a 3D print session remotely on one of his printers and displayed it as it was starting to work. Jim provided lots of information for those interested in 3D printing. Willem concluded the class reminding us that HAMCON will in October with registration opening shortly and remember that The Nerdfest is February 15 followed by the Swapfest of February 16th.
