RMHAM supports EOSS with Media Equipment, DMR Network

Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS) https://www.eoss.org hosted the Great Plains Super Launch (GPSL) 2024. As part of GPSL in Colorado Springs, a symposium was conducted on Friday, August 2 at the Pike’s Peak Community College, Rampart Range Campus. RMHAM loaned their media equipment that they used for RMHAM University to EOSS for use during the symposium. The equipment allowed EOSS to stream the event for those who were unable to attend in person, as well as record the proceedings. The symposium was streamed to YouTube and via Teams for registered participants. Adrian, VE7NZ, wrote “Thanks for streaming it on YouTube. I caught about 80% of the talks and watched the launch.” There were approximately 25 people viewing the streams.  By recording the proceedings, EOSS can make it available to be viewed by people with an interest in launching balloons and amateur radio.
EOSS launched balloons from softball fields in Limon, Colorado. EOSS used the RMHAM linked DMR repeater network Saturday for our Tracking and Recovery efforts of the launched balloons and payloads. The DMR network coverage from Limon and the plains east of Colorado Springs was invaluable for recovering the student payloads as they traveled and landed southeast of Rush, Colorado.
Rob (N0RPF), President of EOSS, commented “Thank you, RMHAM and Dave Maciorowski for helping EOSS and GPSL provide an avenue for the Amateur radio balloon enthusiasts worldwide to participate in the 2024 Great Plains Super Launch.  It is a great partnership that EOSS has with RMHAM, and we are extremely grateful for it.”
