EOSS uses RMHAM DMR network for communcations

It was an early brisk morning when Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS) launched two weather balloons carrying student payloads. The winds transported the balloons to the eastern plains of Colorado. The EOSS members used the RMHAM linked DMR network to communicate where the balloons were traveling and where they could land. EOSS members located in Deer Trail, Colorado monitored the balloon’s travels and other EOSS members traveled to be near the anticipated landing spot. The linked DMR system provided reliable communications over the vast distance between EOSS members. The balloons landed slightly north of Bethune with many EOSS members using the Burlington DMR repeater for communications. The EOSS members are grateful for the use of the linked DMR repeater network provided by RMHAM in serving student’s interest in science and hopefully becoming future amateur radio operators.
