Backbone Extended to Grand Junction!

On September 27, 2019, 15 very dedicated folks journeyed to 3 radio sites on the western slope to extend the microwave backbone from Vail to Grand Junction. This installation allows for high-speed data between several radio sites on the western slope and the rest of the state.

This system goes from Vail to Eagle to Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction. The teams had a very long day and came away with 2/3 of the network working. Our design for one of the hops didn’t take in to account tree growth since the path was last used in the late 1980s and was flaky. We’re building an intermediate hop and it will be completed in the near future.

Stay tuned for more information!
